5 Days — Delhi to Odakhand

Sizzling
Orb,
Pink zest
Orange crest
Red core
Orb,
A 10,000 year epic
the Indian sun
Sun I had never seen
Son of the Gods,
and it
escaped and
encited
Commotion
The motion
of below
It ignited,
the fire under us.

I stopped.
Lost, confused.
I hadn’t stopped in days.
Forced to think
Lost, alone.
And
the heat
It made me sit
But the energy just
sat
in my head
and powered
every thought.

Never had I been
So confused
enthralled
empowered
and lost
all at once,
never, at once.

Because the mind is both a friend
and a foe
the greatest friend
and most powerful foe
when you let it.
But my feet picked up

New sights, new time
Red Fort,
majestic, imposing
headlining Chandni Chowk
Trips to
Khan Market
Janpath
Rickshaws
and adventures
before the greatest adventure
Colors
What else would you expect?
Colors
Culminating
Colors
Illuminating
My mind
Sweet aromas
Contrasted
Odors
Colors
And I embarked

Anand Vihar
Commotion
Locomotion
Trust &
Desperation
Sizzling night
Thank you

Window seat and I,
Mapped India with the
shadows of the night
and I
contoured the trees
and uncovered the
night’s blanketed bodies of water.
The air’s smell seeped
through the windows
And pleaded me to meet India.

And morning came
and fields rushed past
and finally a rush of
mountain wind
A rush of
victorious
light gravity,
I was launched.

Waves and waves
of mountains
curving constantly
around my mind
wrapped by threads of
breeze
held in my palms

Deep suns
interlaced in between
my fingers
Deep moons
sinking into my pupils
scooped by constellations
lighting our paths
our conversations
our laughter

United
and exploring
Books begin
to manifest
themselves into
intellectual interactions
tangible

and I’m
more equipped
than I thought
to explore
water,
water
as poison
infecting our families
And prevention
is always the best choice
before committing
to limiting
treatment
and having to
fight
for another sunrise.

With
Endless
mountaintops
roti
new faces
masala chai
excursions
horizons
and colors
we tread on.
