CASI Young Leadership Series: Mekhala Krishnamurthy at RL Fine Arts

Last Wednesday, CASI presented the second event in the Young Leadership Series at RL Fine Arts in New York. CASI Post Doctoral Research Fellow Mekhala Krishnamurthy spoke about her field work and doctoral dissertation which spans three decades of rural transformation in the social, economic and political lives of an agricultural market (mandi) town in Madhya Pradesh. Borrowing some words from Ignacio Crespo (CASI intern 2009), it was indeed a truly “magical” evening and RL Fine Arts was a beautiful sanctuary from the cold rain that angled down on the city. A common theme kept ringing through the evening: “Who could have imagined a talk on mandi’s could be so interesting?”
